After watching Ken Robinson's TED Talk about education, express your thoughts on how his views do/do not relate to the concept of Genius Hour. What about Ken Robinson's views do you agree/disagree with? After watching Ken Robinson's TED Talk I have opened my eyes on just how much we revolve around standardized testing. College acceptance and scholarships are almost all based off an ACT or SAT test score. Our education system is based off passing these tests. There is no class that teaches us life skills and humanity we just learn how to pass tests. Rarely are there exercises that have real world applications. Occasionally in math and science classes there are word or story problems but that's it. I agree with what he has to say that we need to reform there needs to be a change of focus. Less standardized tests more arts and humanities.

I like that the Genius hour idea is all about you and you are in complete control. I agree with what the article has to say about kids being more involved in the project because it is everything they want it to be. They get to decide. It's really nice for a change of pace, it's much more creative and makes you think in a different way than traditional projects and assignments. It's a great brain activity and it should help students greatly in the future. I agree completely with the article.
